National park
This gorgeous mountain area is the highest in the Czech republic and since 1962 it is became a National Park. It is located 150 km North -east from Prague, near the Polish border. The area covers 60 km wide and 20 km long. Rough, stony peaks, the highest is Snežka 1602m, deep river valleys, green areas, and waterfalls. The river Elbe starts a stream here, also for river Úpa and Jizera (Iser) with all the siderivers.
The entire route for hiking on the mountains is fully marked, so it is safe to walk around and not get lost. So you can enjoy all the sport activities and surroundings.
Svoboda is the gate to the giant mountains. The peak is Snežka. It is 1602 m high , the highest in the Czech republic. When you are on the top of Snežka, fabulous views ca be seen. The area is suitable for many activities, summer and winter. Including hiking, mountain biking, golf, paraglading, rafting, horse riding, fishing, glading, motorcycle tours, swimming and skiing/snowboarding. You can start from the villages Janské Lázne, Strážné, Špindleruv Mlýn, Pec pod Snežkou, and Velká Úpa, especially in autumn when the leaves change the colours, (the Indian summer) it is to be recommend.
